purple's
not
my favorite
color
but last year
i made
a conscious
effort
to add
purple
to my closet.

i always
preferred
the word
violet
better
than purple.
i think
i would have
liked
purple
better
if we
called it
violet.

i have
been thinking
about
depression era
movies
lately
(for obvious
reasons)...
the purple rose of cairo
is always
the first
that comes
to mind.
so sad.
so beautiful.

teased a lot

such white legs.

in elementary school
i wore
red tights
and legwarmers
with
my catholic
school
uniform.

in high school,
even in the
heat of
california
summers,
i wore
blue tights
with
wool mukluks.

this week
i came
across
old college

they use to
call me
"the girl
with
the colored tights"
