After booking into your 3 star hotel in the heart of Edinburgh your day is free - there are numerous Hogmanay related events around the city and of course Princes Street, Edinburgh's famous shopping haven, is open for business. In the evening you can visit the 'Night Afore International' - a spectacular free street arts carnival which last year was performed in partnership with Barcelona and Catalonia. Details for 2008 have not been announced yet but we will keep you up to date as news is released.
|Wednesday 31st December|
|You are taken on a guided tour of Edinburgh by coach, followed by a visit to Edinburgh Castle - the most important ancient monument in Scotland. In the evening you enjoy a delicious 4 course gala dinner at the hotel, followed by a champagne reception and viewing of the New Year fireworks in the hotel's penthouse. Edinburgh's tradition is that the new year is not just greeted with bells but also with the spectacular Seven Hills Fireworks, a dazzling display firing off from locations around the city to light up the night sky. Your hotel has a prime view of the Castle!
|Thursday 1st January|
|No one will blame you for rising late today although there is a lot to do around the city. Princes Street Gardens are taken over by the Winter Fayre, which includes an ice skating rink and speciality shops, visit the fun fair on the Mound or even visit Edinburgh's Dogmanay - sledge racing with dog teams. All the details for 2008/2009 have not been announced yet but we will keep you up to date as news is released.|
